When will the software be available for Windows Vista?
Back to LittleFingers Home Can I try the software before deciding to buy? Of course! Simply go to our home page and click on the download link for your computer platform (Mac or Windows). Each program has a free trial period for evaluation purposes (all are fully functioning). Should you decide to purchase a program, visit our secure online eStore. Immediately upon purchase you will see an order confirmation page listing a registration number to 'unlock' your software. You will also receive this information in email form, but we highly recommend that you print the order confirmation page. How do I purchase the software I've already downloaded? Visit our secure online eStore to purchase your downloaded software. Immediately upon purchase you will see an order confirmation page listing a registration number to 'unlock' your software. You will also receive this information in email form, but we highly recommend that you print the order confirmation page. What are the system requirements for Littlefingers Software? The system requirements vary with each program and are outlined in each program description here on our web site. We are constantly upgrading our programs, and upgrades are always free at LittleFingers. Hold on to those registration numbers! Can I get these programs on CD? LittleFingers Software titles are not currently available on CD or any other type of media. All programs are available for purchase via download only. When will the software be available for Windows Vista? We have begun adding both Intel Mac and Windows Vista versions beginning with the most recent programs (top of home page). These versions will be added as they become available, so check back often! When will the software be available for Intel based Macs? The Mac OSX programs are currently compatible with Mac OSX 10.1 through 10.5 (Leopard) on PPC based Macs only. We have begun adding Intel Mac versions, and more will be added as they become available - so check back often! I can't find the software I've downloaded to my PC running Windows XP or earlier. The file you've downloaded is a 'compressed' file that needs to be extracted (installed) on your hard drive. First, double click the icon for the file you've downloaded. The 'extract' window will appear. Click 'Extract'. The software will be installed in a folder called Littlefingers on your hard drive (usually drive C) inside the Program Files folder. Therefore, the path to your extracted software is: C:\Program Files\Littlefingers If you're not sure how to find the path after installation, open 'My Computer', click on your hard drive icon (again, usually C), then open the 'Program Files' folder. You will find a folder called Littlefingers. Open that - and there it is! Will these programs work on a school network? All programs have been tested on school networks, but how this should be implemented at your own venue depends upon how your network is set up. Some of our programs save games or allow for custom content editing, so the decision between single classroom or network integration should be based on both the teacher and network administrator's preferences. For instance, Challenger saves the games you make in a separate text file. Teacher A may want this to be a 'team' effort (single computer or classroom), while teacher B may want a new instance of the program each time it is run. We suggest that you test each program in your own venue to find the best solution. Do I have to pay for program upgrades? Never! LittleFingers upgrades are always free, so be sure to keep your registration numbers in a safe place. For example, to upgrade from Mac 9.x to a Mac OS X program, simply download the Mac OS X version of the program and enter your 9.x registration number to 'unlock' it. I've downloaded a Mac OS X file, but Stuffit Expander can't open it. If you are downloading a Mac OS X file, please be sure that you have the latest version (version 10 or later) of Stuffit Expander. If you need to download the (free) version of Stuffit Expander, you can do so here. This will open a new window in your browser. Our Mac OS X downloads are .hqx files requiring the above-mentioned Stuffit Expander to open. Most often Mac downloaded files appear on your Mac desktop unless you have set things up differently. Depending upon your OS X version, you may see an icon with the file name, or just a file called 'archive' that looks like a brown box that your UPS guy dropped on your desktop. We don't quite get it, but we suppose either way - it's been delivered. To install your new software, drag the downloaded software icon onto the Stuffit Expander icon. It will 'expand' (in other words, install) the software. There it is. Have fun! |
